'Palmentino' is Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Alicante (Grenache), as well as some white varieties, named for the traditional Etnean wine cellar featuring stone troughs for crushing grapes by foot. Aged in chestnut barrels and large used French casks. After missing out on the 2021 vintage, 2022 is back in rare form and bursting with energy – think juicy red cherries and plums with a hint of blood orange and spice. Tannins are ripe and well integrated and the finish is mineral-driven. It's classic Etna but lighter, juicier and more vibrant than most of the wines from the mountain. Serve slightly chilled.
