Mid-weighted and wonderful textural, Porta del Vento's Catarratto hails from elderly bush vines planted high on the sandy plains looking down on nearby Palermo. Emanating an air of 'Sicilian White Burgundy' (more Mâconnais than Chablis), the 2020 is packed with oodles of curdy citrus, stem ginger, white orchard fruit pulp, and a wonderful push/pull between lactic tang and salty mineral cut. A wine that deliver in spades for its fairly meager price point, and one of the very few still renditions of the Catarratto grape you will find with this much intrigue.
