Not made every vintage, Vittorio’s ‘Smilzo’ is a beguiling bottle – charming, sophisticated, just a little raffish, and an electric shade of fuchsia in the glass. His signature blend of Lambrusco, Malbo Gentile, and other grapes that shall remain unknown, this sees the same treatment as his other sparklers. A rosato that reads more like a light red, it’s full of tart cranberry, raspberry compote, and sweet herbs, with tiny tongue-pricking bubbles. A surprisingly iron-tinged note and beautiful iced tea-like tannins finish things off on the savory side, but will leave your mouth watering throughout. Maybe our favorite in an outstanding lineup!
