Elisabetta’s top-tier bottling, the ‘Granato’ is considered by many to be the varietal’s most prized interpretation. Fruit here is sourced from the estate’s original vines, all still pergola-trained, the oldest going back to 1938 and the youngest to 1956. While it sees 2-3 weeks of maceration using Emilio's cappello sommerso method for gentler extraction, it is still the most traditional of the Teroldego bottlings, aged in large oak foudres for 15 months. Dark as night, the 2021 smolders up from the glass with an array of crushed ashen stones and earth tones giving way to black raspberries, mentholated herbs and exotic spice. Silky smooth yet full of zesty tension, this sweeps across the palate with tart wild berry fruits and sour citrus tones propelled by vibrant acidity. An especially intense and tightly knit Granato, this will pay dividends in the cellar.
