One of two different bottlings from the relatively large contrada of Feudo di Mezzo, the FM is pulled from vines at the lower end of the parcel. Although lower in the valley floor, the wines are of an unusual elegance which characterizes this corner of the contrada. Relatively deep soil which, in humid vintages can create some problems, aids in building ripeness during those that aren't.
The 2020 Rosso Munjebel FM is a beautiful interpretation of Feudo di Mezzo — darkly floral, with dusty rose and dried black cherries accentuated by hints of sage and lavender. It displays velvety textures but possesses ample lift and finesse. Cooling acidity and a cascade of perfumed florals amass toward the close, it finishes remarkably fresh with a gently tannic heft, leaving a pleasantly tart sensation of sour cherry that keeps the mouth watering for more. Burgundian elegance and roundness come to mind, with a site-specific Sicilian radiance.
