At 33 years old, Alessandra Divella is the Italian answer to grower Champagne, on track to upend the industrial farming practices rampant in Franciacorta. While within the proper appellation, Alessandra does not call her sparkling, metodo classico wines Franciacorta, she calls them Gussago, for the small village known for its chalk-limestone soils on the rim of the amphitheater that is the larger region.
