The De Bartoli's riserva bottling is lightly fortified and sweetened with the estate’s mistella - a proprietary mixture of fresh Grillo must and Grillo brandy. Dark and weighty, this Marsala sits semi-dry in the mouth, with racy, tightly-knit acidity flowing into salted flavors of green almond and dried nectarine, gaining momentum mid-palate into a barnstorming finish of dried fig, walnut, singed orange peel, ginger and fleur de sel. This can easily be kept for another decade but when that special night does arrive, be sure to serve at ‘cellar temperature’ (50-60F) with an array of bad ass cheeses.
