Iole Rabasco inherited her family’s small vineyard, La Salita, (and olive grove!) which resides on steep limestone and clay slopes that have never been treated with chemicals. This Trebbiano d’Abruzzo undergoes~ 24 hr maceration on skins giving it texture, richness, and length. Fermentation of grapes in open vats with own yeasts, without temperature control. Aged in a fiberglass tank with a couple of turns according to the phases of the moon. Dried apricot, wild honey and flowers, caramelized pear, and citrus are tangled up with fresh herbs and sunny salinity. Approachable and stirring.
