Winemaker Tasting: Abbazia di Novacella

On Thursday, we'll be joined by Marco Scartezzini of Abbazia di Novacella.  Originally founded as a monastery for Augustinian monks, today it remains "above all an active and vibrant community".  There is still an active boarding school and monastery.  Grape growing and winemaking are parts of a wide array of pastoral activities its members take part in.

Vineyards are scattered around the Bolzano area, near the border with Austria.  Novacella is focused on the indigenous varieties of the region, making top notch Kerner, Sylvaner, and Gruner Veltliner, among others.  Join us Thursday for a peek into this reclusive region on Italy's northern border.

Marco will be presenting:

2014 Sylvaner
2015 Gruner Veltliner
2015 Kerner
2015 Praepositus Kerner
2015 Praepositus Pinot Nero
2013 Pinot Nero
