Sete Rosso 2020

Sete Rosso 2020

$27.00 Regular price $30.00

Looking for a new weeknight red? A go-to autumnal dinner companion? (Mushrooms, squash, meaty stews, oh my!) A light-hearted, low-stress toe-dip into all these natural reds we keep talking about? The Sete crew has got you covered! One of only two red wines produced in the Sete stable, the 2020 rendition of the trio’s simply monikered ‘Rosso’ is a savory fusion of Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, crafted with a fine-toned body geared toward freshness. Sourced from organic vines with no additions or subtractions throughout the vinification process, Sete’s Rosso leads with a spicy perfume of roasted meat pan juices, dried purples flowers, sour red cherries, and earthy spice. A saline palate is pocked with forest-floor savoriness, dried cherry skin and cranberry, and pitch-perfect prickly acidity (yes, you could chill this down, especially if grilling alongside!) Giving mid-palate juiciness goes long and finishes with lightly chewy tannins.

A project born in the heat of the summer of 2013, Sete is, at its very core, the noble and fantastic adventure of three young friends who set out to identify and recover ancient and long-forgotten vineyards throughout Lazio’s Amaseno Valley… and hopefully make a little wine somewhere along the way. Having spent time working in the vineyards and cellars of Gianmarco Antonuzi and Clementine Bouveron’s seminal Gardoli-based estate ‘Le Coste,’ the trio were driven by a desire to foster the concept of ‘agricultura’ - agriculture and culture as one symbiotic goal. This is Lazio at its most stripped back, unadorned and thirst-quenching (sete meaning ‘thirst’ in Italian) – wines are fermented naturally with indigenous yeasts, without the use of chemicals in the vineyard or in the cellar, and without any added sulphites. What emerges are wines with an uncommon energy and depth, in part thanks to the yellow and red sandy soils rich in marine silica, with plenty of acid and salinity. Once popped, a bottle doesn’t last long. Furthermore, they are produced in tiny numbers – meaning less than 1000 bottles per cuvée – so when they’re gone, they’re gone! We've got just a couple cases more after grabbing as much as we could for wine club earlier this year and are eager to share the wealth...
