Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2009 Magnum

Giuseppe Quintarelli was a winemaker gentleman that learned the craft of winemaker from his father and grandfather. A perfectionist who employed rigorous grape selection, Quintarelli often released his wines much later than his fellow producers. During his sixty years as the "Maestro", he upheld tradition and maintained wines of unspeakable quality for what will now be generations to come. He passed away in January 2012 at the age of 84.

This regional and classic blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella is grown on Limestone and Basalt. Once harvested and through the first stages of fermentation, the wine is racked onto the lees of Amarone wine, which then gives way to the second alcoholic fermentation (this process is called ripasso)

After, the wine is racked into large Slavonian oak barrels for seven years.

Often, we like to describe this wine as not only extremely elegant and nuanced, yet cedar-spiced, subtely smokey with notes of leatherstrap and sun-dried cherries.

We receive limited quantities of these magnums every year.
