Occhipinti SP68 Rosso IGT 2014

$27.00

Azienda Agricola Occhipinti lies within the town of Vittoria, in the province of Ragusa, southeastern Sicily. This area is known for the famed Cerasuolo di Vittoria (a blend of Nero D'Avola and Frappato) with its' D.O.C.G., established in 2005.

Arianna Occhipinti is the niece of Giusto Occhpinti of Azienda COS, one of the best wineries in Sicily. In the early 2000's, Arianna started making her own wine with just 1 hectare of abandoned vines, gifted to her by her father. In 2004, at the age of 24, she released her first wines to the market.

Over the years, she has diligently expanded the estate by replanting 10 hectares of the region's indigenous Frappato and Nero D'Avola.

SP68 is the two lane, countryside road that runs right infront of Arianna's property. It is comprised of 70% Frappato and 30% Nero D'Avola. 6 months in concrete vats and 1 month in bottle. Unfiltered. Red sand and chalk/limestone soils. We adore this wine for its freshness, smelling of sun, fennel and hibiscus. Tart, fruity and snappy.

Arianna's wines are a core part of our selection at Biondivino. We have been enjoying her wines for years and for years to come.

SP68 Rosso is well accompanied by the Sicilian dish; Caponata.
