Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino Fornace 2015


The more brutish and power-driven of Le Ragnaie's three site specific offerings, ‘Fornace’ is pulled from a small parcel in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate zone, adjacent to Mastro Janni’s famed ‘Vigna Schiena d’Asino.' The soils here are richer than the Ragnaie estate, but still have a high concentration of limestone and friable clays. Ripe yet vibrant, remarkably rich yet some how pliant and focused, this highly concentrated offering boasts a strong floral lift to an explosive mid-palate bing cherry fruit, sweet, persistent tannins and superb savory balance.
