Benanti Etna Rosso 2015


A blend of predominately Nerello Mascalese (distinctly tannic) and Nerello Cappuccio (sweet and low in tannin). Both are native varieties grown on Mt. Etna for centuries. 

Grapes are selected from north and south-eastern facing vineyard sites. Manual harvest takes place October and de-stemmed. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats, along with a 20 day maceration. About 80% of the wine then matures in stainless steel tanks, while about 20% is refined in French oak barriques for 8-10 months).

A versatile wine, easily enjoyed with red meat dishes and aged sheep's milk cheeses.
