Chateau Simone Palette Rose 2014

Only 1500 bottles exported to the U.S., per year

Located in the commune of Meyreuil, in close proximity to Aix en Provence, the old bastide of the Grands Carmes d'Aix monks. This provencal estate has been in the hands of the Rougier family since 1830. Château Simone encompasses twenty hectares of vineyards that sit on limestone soils at elevations between 500 and 750 feet above sea level on the slopes of Montaiguet. The unique aspect of the appellation is influenced by the fact that it is surrounded by pine forests, the mass of Mont Sainte-Victoire, and the Arc River. The vineyards were reconstituted after the invasion of phylloxera and many vines are over a century old.

45% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault, 20% Syrah, Castet, Manosquin, Carignan, Muscat Noir & Blanc. This wine sees a light crushing at first and then blended with varietals that undergo the saignée or "bled" method. Bottled after 18–24 months of aging in foudres and one year or more in aged barrique. Unflitered.

This is a broad-shouldered rose that shows substance. Herbal with a long red currant fruit like finish.
