Benanti Etna Rosato 2018

Nerello Mascalese in rosé form, still a relatively new endeavor for one of Etna's founding families of winemakers. As local tradition dictates, the Benantis employ a solid skin maceration in order to get the deeper hue — think wild Coho salmon. Structured yet delicate in red fruits, with a shy nose that eventually reveals whiffs of wild berry and Mediterranean brush. The bright palate suggests sour cherry and a hint of salinity alongside fresh acidity, savory with citrus fruit, and classic mineral crunch.
