Le Coste Bianco R 2017

'R' for ‘Riserva,' which comes from a selection of Gianmarco and Clementine’s best Procanico from vines young and old; the rest a mix of Malvasia, Vermentino, and other local white grapes. The grapes are destemmed and spend three weeks macerating on skins, before being pressed off to old barrels for two years of rest. Deep orange in color (think: a cup of Earl Grey tea, perhaps betraying some of its botanical affinities), it’s a wine of truly impressive structure, power, and balance that doesn’t want for detail—rich with ripe apricot, honeycomb, herbal and floral notes, with a well-structured palate, and still a lovely freshness.
